Biomedical Sciences

The Biomedical Sciences program, in collaboration with local universities and medical schools, is design to increase interest in Medicine and Biomedical Research and to mentor and prepare students to compete at the highest levels of college and post-graduate studies. This program is a continuation of the middle school Biomedical Sciences program at Lake Worth Middle and Roosevelt Middle. First choice applicants for Lake Worth High School continuation of the Biomedical Sciences who have satisfactorily completed middle grades program and who meet the program eligibility requirements will be assigned to the partner high school. Accelerated Biomedical Sciences students may enroll in Dual Enrollment courses with Palm Beach State College, and/or take AICE and AP courses, and sit for several industry certification exams in healthcare. The goal of this accelerated honors program is for students to receive as many college credits during high school and apply to the 6-7 year B.S./M.D. or B.A./M.D. programs at several medical schools throughout the United States upon high school graduation. All students applying to this program must meet the following eligibility criteria: 3.0 GPA and Algebra I Honors.
